America has Hollywood, India has Bollywood and in Nigeria they have Nollywood. It’s about time Sollywood came into existence; by taking the “S” from South Africa we can now label our ever growing local film industry.
With that being said, Sollywood Film Productions has been created!

Sollywood Film Productions is a film production company based on the Lower South Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa. We produce featured films covering all genres in the filming industry from nail biting thrillers to tear jerking dramas and everything else in between. Music videos, documentaries, and TV Adverts are also on our long list of services we provide to our clients, and to top it off, we also have our own in house casting agency!
One of our many goals at Sollywood Film Productions is to continuously develop and empower the youth of South Africa by creating job opportunities, exposing our local talent to the world as well as bringing enrichment and sustainability into our film making initiatives.
To date, our company has produced four movies categorized as local productions; Before Sunrise, All Terrain, The Tribe (in editing stage) and Ikuphi Indawo Yami (“Where Do I Belong”) a local drama. With our numerous exciting scripts all ready to be produced and only being able to choose one, due to funding, needless to say we had a very difficult decision to make. In the end we at Sollywood Film Productions have decided to produce our first classical film titled The Big Five.
Although in the past we could not produce classical films due to the lack of funding, equipment and expertise, our dedication and passion for the film industry makes it crystal clear that we can and will make Sollywood Film Productions an internationally recognized film production company. At the moment, funding for our movies is the biggest obstacle that we have to overcome and if we can receive enough support financially from our government, private companies and individuals our goals will be achieved!
